ABOUT JOÃO

Young jazz pianist, composer and producer.

João Barreto's music is influenced by Brad Mehldau, Tigran Hamasyan, Chick Corea, Avishai Cohen, Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Michel Camilo, Pablo Lapidusas but also by different Portuguese artists, like Júlio Resende, Mário Laginha and Bernardo Sassetti.

He was born in 2005 in Portugal and grew up hearing many different music styles, from classical to rock music from the 80's. 

His first contact with piano was at the young age of 3 years old, and by the time he was 9, he started playing jazz standards, with the Argentine musician Pablo Lapidusas.

At 13, he started writing his first ideas and at the age of 15 he released his first album with the help and co-production of his current advisor, Pablo Lapidusas.

João has 17 years old and on the 2nd - January he will be releasing his first full album recorded in the studio of centro Musibéria. This album has the support of the portuguese radio Antena 2.
